About the farm
Dume Station
"Tamiru, the founder of Alo Coffee, is the 2021 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence (COE) champion. He ventured deep into Bensa, the highest area in Sidama, to establish the Dume processing station within the high-altitude Murago micro-region at 2,400 meters above sea level.
In the local language, Dume means 'rich red soil.' The station exclusively collects fully ripe 74158 cherries that mature slowly under the region’s extreme day-night temperature swings. The freezing night temperatures at this elevation allow the cherries to absorb abundant minerals and natural sugars from the nutrient-dense red soil.
Post-harvest, Tamiru oversees a rigorous slow-drying process under shaded raised beds right at Dume Station. As a result, this coffee beautifully showcases the classic peach and white floral aromatics of the 74158 variety, paired with explosive notes of vibrant peach, tropical fruit, and a coating honey sweetness brought by the high-altitude red soil."
